The online loan and retail financing
applications provided by American General Financial Services
(AGFS) allow you to apply online for retail financing. In
most cases, you will receive a response regarding your
application in minutes. Below is a list of frequently asked
questions that may help you with the application process.
How Does It
Work?
We value your time! Our two step process should take you
less than 10 minutes to complete. Completing the application
process will take you approximately 3 to 5 minutes and it
should take no more than 2 minutes for our system to process
your application. You will receive one of the following
responses to your online loan or retail financing credit
application:
(1) Application Forwarded to a Local AGFS Branch Office:
The application will be forwarded to the specified AGFS
branch, where a loan specialist will contact you within 1
business day.
(2) Denied:
Unfortunately, your application has been denied and we will
be unable to assist you with your credit needs at this time.
A statement of credit denial will be mailed to you within
the next 30 days.
(3) Conditionally Approved (Applies to retail financing
only):
You have been approved, pending verification of the
information you provided. Please make note of your
application number for further reference. You will need to
proceed to your selected merchant and provide the merchant
with your approved application number and verification of
identification (i.e., driver's license).
(4) Further Review (Applies to retail financing only):
The application requires further review from one of our loan
specialists, and a decision will be sent to you via email
within 24 hours.

What Information Do I Need?
The information below provides an outline of what you will
need for the AGFS online loan and retail financing
applications, as well as for closing the loan at an AGFS
branch or an AGFS merchant. Please note that when applying
jointly, the information below must be provided by both the
primary borrower and the co-applicant.
(1) Information Needed to Receive an Online Response:
- Name
- Address
- Phone Number (required for primary borrower only)
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
- Email Address
- Employer's Name
- Net Monthly Income
(2) Close the Request at the Branch/Merchant:
- Verification of Residence
- Verification of Employment
- Verification of Income
- Appraisals (secured real estate requests only)
- Title Searches (secured real estate requests only)
- Proof of Identification
I applied for
retail financing and forgot my application number. What
do I do now?
If you have misplaced your retail financing application
number, please contact the American General Financial
Services merchant to proceed with your financing.
I received a
'Conditionally Approved' decision on my application.
Where do I go now?
If you received a 'Conditionally Approved', decision for a
retail financing credit application, please note your
application number and proceed to the merchant that you
selected at the beginning of the application process (the
merchant information is provided on the credit approval
page). This conditional approval, subject to verification of
your application information, is valid for 30 days after it
is issued.

received a 'Further Review' decision on my application.
What does this mean?
'Further review' status means that your retail financing
application requires further review by an American General
Financial Services loan specialist. Rather than making you
wait online while this process takes place, we will send the
decision regarding your credit application via email within
24 hours.
What is AGFS's relationship with merchants?
AGFS has relationships with thousands of merchants across
the country who offer all types of consumer products from
home furnishings and appliances to musical equipment and
electronics. This relationship allows the customer to make
purchases with these merchants using AGFS's retail
financing.
What does verification mean?
In order to approve a loan or retail financing request, AGFS
must first verify certain aspects of the application, such
as the applicant's identity and employment information.
What
type of ID is needed for verification?
A valid driver's license or current passport can be used to
verify identity.
